We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun,
experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Girls on the Run® is a fun, proven, learning program for girls age 8-13. It is not an elite running program - it creatively integrates running into dynamic, conversation-based lessons and games to teach the important life skills girls need to navigate their teenage years.
We enthusiastically encourage girls of any level of physical fitness to register and experience the many benefits of the program!
The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K (3.1 miles) running event. The goal is to unleash confidence through accomplishment, while establishing a lifetime appreciation of self-respect, health and fitness. Girls also contribute to their community by participating in a group community service project.
We offer two age-appropriate programs: Girls on the Run® is open to girls in grades 3-5 (3-4 in some school districts) and Girls on Track® is designed for girls in grades 6-8 (5-7 in some districts). The research and philosophy behind both programs are the same - providing girls with the tools to make positive decisions and avoid such risky adolescent behaviors as substance/alcohol use, eating disorders, early onset of sexual activity, sedentary lifestyle, depression, suicide attempts and confrontations with the juvenile justice system. But the depth of processing varies with age, with Girls on Track® allowing for more mature thinking around topics such as eating disorders, online safety, cyber-bullying and tobacco/alcohol use.
